Illumination has released the first trailer for Not Alone, offering audiences a first look at its upcoming animated sci-fi comedy where Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez join as lead voice artists. The film, scheduled to hit theatres on April 16, 2027, blends romance, comedy and extraterrestrial adventure in a story centred on two unlikely rocket scientists.

The trailer introduces Chalamet as Joe, a reserved rocket mechanic who prefers a quiet, solitary life. His world begins to change when he meets Fran, an ambitious astro-botanist voiced by Gomez, who is determined to develop the world's first plant-powered rocket.

The trailer hints at a series of humorous misadventures as Joe and Fran find themselves balancing scientific ambitions, newfound romance and an out-of-this-world secret.

'Not Alone' marks Chalamet's first voice performance in an animated feature, adding another milestone to the actor's diverse filmography. Gomez, meanwhile, returns to voice acting after lending her voice to several successful animated projects over the years.

The film is directed by Eric Guillon, Claire Dodgson and Jonathan Del Val, with Chris Meledandri serving as producer. Joy Poirel, Richard Curtis and David Distenfeld are executive producers.

Joining Chalamet and Gomez is an ensemble voice cast that includes Brett Goldstein, Rob Brydon, Jamie Demetriou, Diane Morgan, Allison Janney and Lamorne Morris.

Known for blockbuster animated franchises such as 'Despicable Me', and 'Minions', Illumination appears to be taking a fresh direction with 'Not Alone', combining space exploration, quirky comedy and heartfelt storytelling.
