Italian fashion house Prada is set to explore new horizons — this time, the runway is the Moon.

Prada has unveiled a new inner-layer garment designed to be worn by NASA astronauts heading to the Moon, marking the luxury brand’s latest push into the growing space industry. The body-hugging suit, developed in collaboration with Houston-based space infrastructure company Axiom Space, features ventilation tubes knitted directly into the fabric to help regulate astronauts’ body temperature during missions.

The launch follows Prada’s major entry into space fashion in 2024, when the company unveiled a spacesuit expected to be used for NASA’s planned Artemis 4 Moon mission in 2028.Prada’s expansion into the space sector comes at a challenging time for the global luxury goods market. After two years of contraction, the industry had begun showing signs of recovery before the Iran war disrupted travel and weakened luxury spending beyond the Middle East.

Prada is not the only fashion brand looking toward space. Sportswear giant Under Armour has partnered with spaceflight company Virgin Galactic to develop space apparel, while Columbia Sportswear has collaborated with space exploration firm Intuitive Machines on advanced space fabric technology.

As commercial space exploration and tourism continue to grow, fashion and apparel companies are increasingly viewing the industry as the next frontier for innovation and branding.
